Flight Log - 2012-06-06 - Bob Francis's Speed Freak 3
Flight Date: 2012-06-06
Rocket Name: Speed Freak 3
Kit Name: Estes - Speed Freak {Launch/Starter Set} (1889) [?-?]
Flyer's Name: Bob Francis
Motors: C6-5
Launch Site: Cul-de-sac, Belvidere, IL

Time: 8:18 pm.  Temperature: 65 degrees.  Wind calm.  Weather: clear, sunset.

Daniel planned to cover the nosecone, Bob planned to cover the rocket body.  Rocket launched and arced towards the northeast.  Daniel lost the nosecone at ejection and began searching in the tall grass about 100 to 150 yards northeast of the launch site.  Bob followed the rocket body.  The parachute deployed, but did not open.  Rocket landed on the pavement about 80 yards west of the launch site.  One of the plastic fins was broken off.  Canceled search of the nosecone as the rocket would not fly again.  After this flight, we have decided not to bother replacing it with another Speed Freak as we have had nothing but bad luck with them.
