Flight Log - 2017-06-25 - Matthew Bond's Estes Mega Der Pink Max

Estes upscaled Red Max Pro Series II kit.  Added an eyebolt to the top centering ring and replaced the shock cord with 20 feet of braided Kevlar.  Added some balsa "dams" to the motor mount which allowed me to pot the TTW fin tabs in epoxy where they attached to the motor mount.  Currently using a kevlar heat shield and a 30 inch Spherachute for recovery.  Rocket was initially flown "nekkid", but final colors will be pink with a purple nosecone and "Der Pink Max" decals from Stickershock.

Day 2 of Southern Thunder 2017.  Pretty stiff beeze blowing perpendicular to the flight line.  Angled the rail into the wind and let it rip!  Great boost on a big red flame, fast off the rail, angled into the wind and arcing over at the top of the climb.  Past apogee and headed downhill at ejection.  Good chute, long time coming down, heading towards the trees The whole time.  Seemed to get hung up in a couple of thermals as well.  Long walk to recover, landed on the field about 200 feet short of the trees, no damage.
